ABOUT KATHRYN
KATHRYN A. CUNNINGHAM is a painter and digital artist who lives and works on Shelter Island, New York.

Her Images, figurative and gestural, are painted in oil or acrylic on stretched linen or paper. Her digital artwork is created on an Ipad and computer. The finished work is printed and framed or fabricated on metal. Her work is influenced by Picasso, David Hockney and abstract figurative artist Jennifer Pochinski.

She earned her B.A. as a studio art major at Hunter college, where she was Influenced by Robert Motherwell and studied with John Baldesari. After college, she continued her education receiving a degree in law. She pursued photography while practicing law and studied at the New School, Cooper Union, and the International Center for Photography. Thirteen years ago, Kathryn retired from law and created her art studio on Shelter Island where she belongs to the arts collective ARTSI.

Kathryn has participated in the Yellow Chair Salon where her work has been critiqued and mentored by the artist Michael David and Paul D’Agostino. She has taken workshops at the Art Students League of New York and the Black Pond Studio. She has since been mentored by the artist Michael Rosch. Please see her EXHIBITS page for more information.
